How JobPilot helps data analysts land interviews
JobPilot compares your data analyst resume with each posting, shows which tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau or Power BI the job asks for that your resume doesn't mention, and tailors your resume using only the analysis you have actually done. It never adds a tool you haven't used or a result you can't back up.

What makes a data analyst resume stand out?
-
Tool names are the first filter
Postings name SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Python. If yours are not spelled out, your resume can be passed over.
-
Dashboards without decisions
"Built dashboards" is on many resumes. Who used them and what they decided is what shows value.
-
Analyst titles overlap
Business, reporting, BI and insights analyst roles overlap. Compare the duties in the posting, not only the title.
-
Analysis done in another job
Many analysts start in finance, operations or marketing, and the analysis they did there is easy to undersell.

See pricingWhat should a data analyst resume show?
General guidance. Name the tools you have used and the decisions your work supported.
| Section | What to include |
|---|---|
| Tools | SQL and the databases you queried, Excel features such as pivot tables or Power Query, BI tools, and Python or R if you use them. |
| Analysis | The question you answered, the data you used and how you analyzed it. |
| Dashboards and reports | Who used them, how often, and which decisions they supported. |
| Outcomes | Time saved, costs or revenue affected, only with numbers you actually know. |
| Domain | The industry you worked in, since many postings ask for experience in a specific field. |
Resume or CV: what changes by country?
The document is the same: a UK or Australian CV is what US and Canadian postings call a resume. What changes is the wording postings use. US and Canadian postings usually write "analyze" and UK and Australian postings "analyse". Tool names such as SQL, Excel and Power BI are the same everywhere.
| Country | What the document is called |
|---|---|
| United States | Usually "resume". A "CV" usually means a longer academic or research document. |
| Canada | Usually "resume"; "CV" is also used. |
| United Kingdom | Usually "CV", meaning the same kind of document as a US resume. |
| Australia | "Resume" and "CV" are both used for the same document. |
Does it work for business analyst and BI roles?
Yes. JobPilot works with any posting that has a written description, including business, reporting and BI analyst jobs.
My work has been mostly in Excel. Will JobPilot add Python or SQL?
No. If a posting asks for a tool your resume does not show, it is listed as a gap so you know what the job wants. It is added only if you tap "I have this".
Will it make up business results?
No. JobPilot never invents numbers. When a bullet could use one, it leaves a [placeholder] for you to fill in with a real figure, or remove.
Should I link to a portfolio?
A public portfolio can help a reviewer. The match score is based on the text of your resume, so describe the key projects on the resume too.
